Abstract: The Party and the government attach great importance to science and technology  (S&T) innovation to cope with the challenges of population aging. To effectively tackle this issue, we should not only rely on population policy, pension model, pension security, and pension ser⁃ vice, but also try to implement the directives from the Party and government regarding the role of  S&T innovation in managing population aging. Gerontechnology innovation ecosystem, as well as  its health analysis, is an important theoretical and practical matter in leveraging S&T innovation  to cope with population aging. However, targeted research in this area is currently lacking. Tak⁃ ing ecological theory as a guide, this study characterizes the "development quality" in terms of  "health" and focuses on the gerontechnology innovation system as the research object. It puts for⁃ ward the concept of the gerontechnology innovation ecosystem and outlines its conceptual dimen⁃ sions, components, and evaluation model of the gerontechnology innovation ecosystem health. Fi⁃ nally, the health status of China's gerontechnology innovation ecosystem is evaluated from a com⁃ prehensive cross-sectional analysis, dynamic temporal evolution, and spatial correlation. We  aim to assess the overall development quality of China's gerontechnology innovation ecosystem. The results show that: ①From the perspective of vertical temporal evolution the overall healthi⁃ ness of the gerontechnology innovation ecosystem in various regions is relatively low, but it  shows a steady growth trend. ②From the perspective of horizontal spatial distribution, the health  level of regional gerontechnology innovation ecosystems, in descending order, is as follows: East  China, North China, Central South China, Northeast China, Southwest China, and Northwest  China. ③In terms of spatial correlation, the health of regional gerontechnology innovation eco⁃ systems shows a significant positive spatial correlation, but the significance of spatial agglomera⁃ tion effects has decreased over time, with an overall average annual decline rate of 3.50%. Fi⁃ nally, based on the above conclusions, targeted countermeasures and suggestions are proposed to  promote the healthy development of the elderly care technology innovation ecosystem, in order to  provide a useful reference for improving the health level of the gerontechnology innovation eco⁃ system in China and a scientific basis for government departments at all levels to formulate S&T  innovation policies and systems to address the challenges of population aging.
